White Paper, “Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS" - council response
To endorse the council's response to the NHS white paper, “Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS” the key proposals affecting local government include the transfer of public health responsibilities to councils, the abolition of PCTs and the transfer of health commissioning responsibilities to GPs and promoting joint working and integration between health and social care services. To note the ways in which some of the ideas in the White Paper have already been taken forward.
