The Highways Committee is a committee of the Cabinet. It is responsible for scheme approval for traffic management and related matters associated with the public highway, public rights of way, and off-street car and lorry parks. It is also responsible for reviewing performance of the implementation of schemes and of parking enforcement and any other traffic management matters the Director of Environment and Neighbourhoods feels should be referred to the committee for a decision.
The Highways Committee was decommissioned in May 2018. All functions of the committee are now carried out by the Cabinet or by officers under delegated powers.
