Decision details
Authority to award a contract for web security (Recordable Officer Decision)
Decision Maker: Strategic Director - Customer and Digital Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To request authority to award a contract as required by Contract Standing Order 88 for a web security solution for the Shared Technology Services Boroughs of Brent, Lewisham and Southwark.
Decision:
That the Strategic Director Customer and Digital Services:
i) Approves the award of contract for the provision of web security solution to MTI Technology Limited.
Reasons for the decision:
The Council requires the provision of a web security solution in order to prevent malware propagation (ingress or egress), and prevent access to sites deemed to be inappropriate by the various organisations (collectively or individually) within scope. Council officers have undertaken a procurement exercise and identified MTI Technology Limited as the contractor providing the most economically advantageous offer in accordance with agreed evaluation criteria and therefore recommend award to this contractor.
Alternative options considered:
Officers considered whether the web security solution could be provided by the Council itself but concluded it is best provided by a contractor. Officers reviewed a range of procurement options but considered that awarding following a further competition from a framework was the most appropriate means of procuring a contractor.
Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:
None.
Cabinet/Committee Decision or Scheme of Delegation: Officer scheme of delegation.
Parties Consulted: The relevant Shared Service Borough stakeholders have been consulted in relation to this procurement.
