Scrutiny is the mechanism by which the Cabinet is held publicly to account. The scrutiny function has the capacity to give non-Cabinet Members a significant opportunity to influence the proposals of the Cabinet and to probe into the impact of policy decisions on the Borough.
This is one of three scrutiny committees established by the Council. This committee covers housing functions within the Community Wellbeing Department, including the transfer of Brent Housing Partnership Ltd and its housing management functions to the council; housing supply; housing growth numbers; temporary accommodation; landlord licensing; the private rented sector; housing policy; homelessness, and registered providers. It also includes supported housing and floating support, and home adaptations.
The Housing Scrutiny Committee was decommissioned on 1st May 2019.
Related Committees: the Community and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee and the Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee.
