Reason for urgency:
This decision will be taken in light of the current outbreak of the Corona Virus – COVID-19, the severity of which only became apparent 14-16 March 2020.
In light of the current outbreak of the Coronavirus Covid-19, there is an escalated demand for body storage space that will significantly exceed our current capacity. An additional local facility is needed immediately to sustain the emergency response.
There is an escalated demand for body storage space that significantly exceeds pre-existing capacity. Creating additional capacity at the proposed emergency facility supports the NW Hospital Trust through a period of great operational difficulty and crisis. The approach is agreed by GOLD as part of the Council’s overall response to the emergency.
