This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.
Reason for urgency:
The current contract commenced on 1 Oct 14 for a period of 5 years with the option to extend by a further 5 year period. The current contract arrangements are subject to external consultancy review which it was originbally planned to have delivered by the required contractual renewal date. It was identified last week that this would not be achievable with further work required to complete the review. An extension of the contract is therefore being sought for a period of 3 months but as this is not in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract, a variation is being sought. As the initial 5 year term of the contract expires on 30 Sept 19 it is imperative that the contract term is extended with immediate effect in order to ensure continuation of the service and avoid the risk of the service being changed or terminated, which is likely to involve additional costs and/or the procurement of suitable replacement contractor(s) creating major service upheaval.
