Polling places and stations - Elections 2011 PDF 104 KB A review of polling districts was reported to the General Purposes Committee on 3 November 2009 when a number of changes to boundaries and polling stations were agreed. This report seeks approval of the polling places to be used for the Referendum on the parliamentary voting system which is expected to be on 5 May 2011, in the light of the premises currently available. Minutes: The committee received a report from the Democratic Services Manager which sought approval of polling places to be used for the Referendum on the parliamentary voting system expected to be on 5 May 2011, based on arrangements the previous year and in the light of premises currently available.
The Electoral Services Manager referred to the polling places that had been found to not be available for May 2011 and also reported back on comments from ward councillors on the proposals in particular the use Learie Constantine Centre (CWG1) instead of St Andrew and St Francis C of E Primary School, Belton Road which would be considered in the future. It was also noted that extensive building works were taken place at Sudbury Primary School, Watford Road (NSU4) and officers agreed to seek further assurances on the arrangements to be in place for voters. Members also reminded of the need for clear signage at those polling stations that have particular requirements.
RESOLVED:
(i) that proposed changes to the polling places as set out in paragraphs 3.2.1 – 3.2.8 of the report from the Democratic Services Manager be noted and approved;
(ii) that the list of polling places for elections held in 2011 attached as appendix 1 to the report be agreed;
(ii) that authority be delegated to the Democratic Services Manager to make any further changes required to the polling places and stations for these elections, in consultation with the leaders of the three political groups on the council. |
