Parking at Regency Heights, Lakeside Drive
I have tried to voice this problem everywhere. I have emailed so many different Brent council email addresses but I have received no response.
I live in NW10 7JD, Marquess House, Lakeside Drive. The parking in this area is horrific. It is a development of around 7 blocks of flats (each with an average of 8 floors), so as you can imagine there are a thousands of residents here.
I don't understand why the whole area is painted double yellow with the exception of around 20 spots that are single yellow - with restrictions only applied from 10am - 11am Monday - Friday.
Firstly, what benefit does it bring to anyone having double yellow lines on the road throughout the whole development? There isn't a health and safety benefit, nor does parking on the double yellow obstruct vision, nor does it cause an obstruction or a blockage in anyway. If the council thinks otherwise I would love to invite them down so they can show the residents how this is the case.
Secondly, what benefit does having a single yellow line with restrictions only applied from 10am-11am Monday - Friday have? It seems nonsensical and provides 0 benefit to anyone (apart from monetary benefit to the council as they hand out fines and tow vehicles regularly within this hour). I am working from home today and I am currently sitting in my car writing this petition until the hour passes so I don't receive a ticket. It is a major inconvenience with no benefit. To make matters even worse there is a towing truck that circles the development like a hyena waiting to prey on any car and tow them off if they are parked on the single yellow between the restricted hour. I even have video-graphic evidence of a car being towed onto the truck at 10:58AM. The towing team could’ve waited simply 2 minutes to save the poor owner of the vehicle from being fined around £270. This just shows how dire the situation is.
I haven’t even began to express how hard it is for visitors to park in this area. There are people in this development that suffer from mental health issues and they cannot even have family and friends around to visit them as there is nowhere for them to park if they travel via car.
I invite the council to contest our argument and if no feasible benefit is found to having the whole area in double/single yellow lines, they must be removed.
The parking situation is atrocious and there must be change. We as the residents have had enough.
