Standards Committee
Purpose of committee
To promote high standards of conduct by councillors, to receive allegations that councillors may have failed to comply with the Council’s code of conduct and hold hearings into allegations of misconduct.
In accordance with the Localism Act 2011, the Council has appointed two Independent Persons. An Independent Person is consulted upon receiving a complaint and is also consulted by the Standards Committee at the conclusion of an investigation in deciding how to proceed. The Council has also appointed Sheila Darr as a non-voting member of its Standards Committee.
