Our Response

Residents raised concerns about the footpath leading into Roe Green Park from Kingsbury Road remains wet and difficult to walk on. Pedestrians are diverting onto the grass to pass through, which may cause further ground damage and accessibility concerns.

Response from: Parks & Green Infrastructure

Roe Green path – we are in the process of obtaining quotes from contractors to formalise the pedestrian desire line from Kingsbury Road to the Walled Garden.  We will provide further updates when we know that the quotes are affordable and actionable.

A query was raised regarding the future of the lodge located in Roe Green Park. The question concerns what is planned for the building.

Response from: Property & Assets

The current status of the lodge is that the long leasehold arrangement remains in place. Any actions regarding the operation or reopening of the building rest with the leaseholder who I believes has intentions to reopen.

Residents had concerns about Brampton Road pavements which are in severe disrepair, causing frequent falls, especially among elderly and disabled residents.

Previous petitions and engagement with the council and MPs have not resulted in improvements. Safety concerns include injuries and fatalities linked to pavement condition. Also, Brampton Road is a one-way street, but vehicles and motorbikes frequently travel in the wrong direction at high speed which increase the risk for school children and elderly pedestrians. Residents getting verbal abuse when residents challenge drivers.

Response from: Highways Management and Healthy Streets & Parking

Brampton Road disrepair: Brampton Road is inspected annually each April. On the last inspection in April 2025 the inspector noted that although the “area would benefit from a weed spray”, there were no investigation level defects present at the time.

In the last two years there have been,

95 investigation level defects raised of which,

·       74 were completed

·       3 are on order for repair

·       18 were not prioritised for repair (medium priority)

66 customer reports raised relating to highway defects.

This year 2025/26, an extra £4.8m will be spent on renewing 7 miles of pavements.

However, as there are 529 miles of pavements in the Borough, underpinning all this is the fact that there are many more pavements that we would like to reconstruct, than there is funding available to do them. Although Brampton Road is not on our current programme for pavement reconstruction, it will be considered along with other streets in the borough for future programmes. It should be noted we will be arranging for new condition data of our network later this year, in preparation of drafting our provisional 2026/27 Planned Maintenance programme that will be presented to Cabinet in April / May 2026 for approval. At this present time, we cannot commit to any roads being included on the programme.

We are also unable to undertake a whole road inspection of Brampton Road as part of reactive* inspections, as we do not have the resources to do this. However, if there are any further defects you would like considered for repair, please provide us with specific locations with a brief description, such as “dislodged slab outside no.1 Brampton Road” and send to highways.management@brent.gov.uk. These can be logged for inspection, with any investigation level defects (i.e. those which exceed our thresholds) identified and repaired according to priority. If these cannot be provided, then any investigation level defects will be picked up on the next cyclic inspection.

Reactive*- highways safety inspections either on a scheduled basis, or because of customer reports of a particular problem. Defects identified are repaired on a priority basis, as far as funding allows.

Brampton Road speeding: Brampton Road is a one-way street for vehicular traffic. As part of the Princes Avenue Green Corridor scheme (Project: Princes Avenue Green Corridor | London Borough of Brent), the existing speed cushions will be replaced with sinusoidal (smooth-top) humps which are designed to be smoother for general vehicle traffic while being more effective at reducing speeds, particularly for motorbikes.

In addition, we will also be introducing a new cycle contraflow to enable cyclists to travel in both directions along Brampton Road and will be arranging targeted camera enforcement of the no-entry restriction to improve compliance. Construction works on the scheme commenced on 19th January and are expected to be completed by the end of March.

Barriers at Kingsbury Roundabout have been broken for an extended period. The roundabout is very busy, and the lack of barriers poses a significant safety risks - high-speed vehicles potentially causing accidents, risk of vehicles crashing into nearby flats and even though it has been reported multiple times and photographic evidence submitted to Highways, no changes have been made.

Response from: Highways Management

An inspection was carried out over the festive period and replacement barriers ordered where they meet the threshold for repair. Please note we can repair all high priority highway defects although can only fund repairs to approx. 35% of all medium priority defects. That means we must

prioritise repairs to defects considered of greatest risk to road safety.

Road markings and directional arrows on speed humps along Salmon Street have completely faded, making them difficult to see, especially at night. This poses a significant safety risk and could lead to accidents.

Response from: Highways Management

The most efficient way to report faded road markings is via the Brent App Fix-My-Street or, by emailing Highways.management@brent.gov.uk. I have arranged for inspection. Please notes refreshing the road markings is subject to them meetings investigation levels.  It can take longer to refresh road markings over the seasonal period as the work is weather dependent.

Residents raised request about the need for basic facilities such as toilets and a place for refreshments. Woodcock Park currently lacks these amenities, limiting its potential for community health initiatives.

Response from: Parks & Green Infrastructure

The Parks Service made a request for funding for toilets in Woodcock Park, but this was not awarded.
