Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To request authority to extend a contract in respect of Collection and Delivery of Letters, Large Letters and Parcels with Royal Mail Group Lotd Trading as Royal Mail.
Decision:
That the Corporate Director of Partnerships, Housing and Residents Services:
i) Approves the extension of the contract for Collection and Delivery of Letters, Large Letters and Parcels with Royal Mail Group Ltd Trading for a period of 2 years.
Reasons for the decision:
The Contract contains provision permitting extension of the Contract by 2 years. Officers consider extending the Contract by 2 years will achieve best value for the Council and is reasonable in all the circumstances.
Alternative options considered:
Officers consider that extending the Contract is in the best interest of the Council as the current provider is providing the services and significant savings have been made during the Contract, which also provides for an extension to the Contract term. It is therefore considered not viable to explore a new procurement.
Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:
None.
Wards Affected: (All Wards);
Cabinet/Committee Decision or Scheme of Delegation: Non-key officer recordable decision.
Parties Consulted: As the extension was provided for in the contract terms, there has been no consultation with ward members.
