Purpose:
To request authority to tender contract for the construction works required to deliver Brent Children’s Care Home.
Decision:
That the Director of Property & Assets:
i) Approves inviting tenders for contract in respect of the construction works required to deliver the Brent Children’s Care Home on the basis of the pre - tender considerations.
ii) Approves Officers evaluating the tenders referred to in (i) above on the basis of the evaluation criteria.
Reasons for the decision:
The council requires the provision of
construction works to deliver the Brent Children’s Care Home.
It has been determined that the most appropriate means of providing
the construction works is through the procurement of a contractor
by way of a tender process.
Alternative options considered:
Officers have considered whether the
construction works required to deliver the Brent Children’s
Care Home Project can be provided by the council itself but have
concluded that works is best provided by a contractor.
Officers have reviewed a range of procurement options including the
use of frameworks but consider that a tender process is the most
appropriate means of procuring a contractor.

Parties Consulted: The Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools has been kept informed of developments in relation to the project. Officers are in the process of finalising a communications strategy for the development and opening of the residential home. This will include actions to inform ward members, local residents and other relevant, interested parties as to the development of the children's residential home.
