Purpose:
In June 2020 Cabinet approved a new Tenancy Management Policy which set out the types of tenancies used by Brent Housing Management and how they are managed. Since the introduction of this policy a small number of amendments have been required.
This decision seeks to outline and approve the required amendments, which provide clarification of the procedure associated with changing a single to a joint tenancy, ensure the policy is compliant with both the law and the Councils allocation scheme and amend typographical errors.
Decision:
To agree minor amendments to the Tenancy Management Policy.
Reasons for the decision:
In June 2020 Cabinet approved a new Tenancy Management Policy which set out the types of tenancies used by Brent Housing Management and how they are managed.
Since the introduction of this policy, a small number of amendments have been required. These provide clarification of the procedure associated with changing a single to a joint tenancy, provide clarification and ensure the policy is compliant with both the law and the Councils allocation scheme and amend typographical errors.
It should be noted that the amendments do not reflect a change in the policy position but only a change of wording to aid the implementation of the agreed policy.
Alternative options considered:
None - The proposed amendments to the Tenancy Management Policy do not involve any changes, major or otherwise, to the Council policy and are merely minor modifications and variation to the wording of the Policy to provide clarification to the procedure, ensure the policy is complaint with the law and the Council’s housing allocation scheme and amend typographical errors.
