Purpose:

To seek approval for changes to polling places in Alperton, Queensbury and Stonebridge wards for the General Election on 4 July 24.

Decision:

In accordance with the delegation agreed by the General Purposes Committee on 22 January 2024, to approve the following changes to polling places in Alperton, Queensbury and Stonebridge wards for the General Election on 4 July 24:

 

·             Bluebell Nursery - Clay Oven to be used as an alternative to service voters from the WAL3/1 and WAL3/2 area.

 

·             Seventh-Day Adventist Church Hall - Crystals of London to be used as an alternative to service voters from the EST6 area.

 

·             Enchanted Lands Day Nursey - Club House, Eton Grove to be used as an alternative to service voters from the HQY4/1 and HQY4/2 area.

Reasons for the decision:

In accordance with the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, a review of all polling districts and polling places was undertaken with the outcome approved by General Purposes Committee on 22 January 2024.  Authority to make changes, where needed for particular elections, was delegated to the Chef Executive.

 

For the General Elections set to take place on 4 July there are a number of polling places that are not available for use. These are Bluebell Nursery, Alperton, Seventh-Day Adventist Church Hall, Stonebridge and Enchanted Lands Day Nursery, Queensbury, which has resulted in the need for the alternative arrangements outlined within this report to be presented for approval.

Alternative options considered:

Other potential sites were explored in the respective areas. These however were not suitable to be used as a polling place.
