To note the representations received, officer responses and suggested changes to the Draft Staples Corner Design Code which can be found in the accompanying background document. To incorporate relevant parts of the Design Code into the Draft Staples Corner Masterplan and Design Code Supplementary Planning Document.

That the Corporate Director of Neighbourhoods and Regeneration:

i)               Notes the responses to the representations received and the suggested amendments to the Draft Staples Corner Design Code, which can be found in the accompanying background document, to ultimately be incorporated into the Draft Staples Corner Masterplan & Design Code Supplementary Planning Document.

The consultation on the Design Code has indicated broad support for its contents. Suggested amendments following the comments received will improve it. The clarity set out in the Design Code will assist in delivering high quality development and places in Staples Corner. Its incorporation into the Draft Staples Corner Masterplan & Design Code Supplementary Planning Document will provide a single document against which to assess development that comes forward.

3.1         There were three options reasonably considered to be open to the Council. These are to:

a)        approve the amendments to the draft Design Code considering consultation responses and incorporate it into the draft Staples Corner Masterplan & Design Code SPD, or

b)        approve the amendments to the draft Design Code considering consultation responses and adopt it as a separate SPD, or

c)        not to approve amendments following consultation and not progress the Design Code.
