Authority to vary and extend a contract in respect of Supported Living Services for Adults living at Gladstone Park Gardens (Non-Key Officer Recordable Decision)
Decision Maker: Director - Adult Social Care
Decision status: For Determination
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To request authority to vary and extend a contract in respect of Supported Living Services for Adults at Gladstone Park Gardens as required by Contract Standing Order 112.
Decision:
That the Director of Adult Social Care:
i) Approves an extension to the current contract for Supported Living Services for Adults at Gladstone Park Gardens with Dimensions UK for a period of 6 months as permitted under the contract.
ii) Approves the variation of the contract for Supported Living Services for Adults at Gladstone Park Gardens with Dimensions UK to permit the further extension of the contract.
iii) Subject to (ii), approves the further extension of the contract for Supported Living Services for Adults at Gladstone Park Gardens with Dimensions UK for an additional period of 6 months beyond that provided for in the original contract.
Reasons for the decision:
The Council entered into a contract for Supported Living Services for Adults at Gladstone Park Gardens with Dimensions UK.
Officers consider extending the contract by a total duration of 12 months will achieve best value for the Council and is reasonable in all the circumstances. The contract currently contains provision allowing for extension of 6 months only. As officers consider a 12 month extension to be appropriate, officers seek to vary the contract to allow for its extension by an additional 6 months.
Alternative options considered:
Officers considered not extending the contract and instead re-procuring it at the expiry of the current term. However, officers intend to include Gladstone Park Gardens within a review of supported living services for adults with learning disabilities along with five other sites, which all have contract dates that end before 28 June 2024. The intention is to align the contract end dates for all supported living services for adults which will enable time for the review to take place. Aligning the contracts will also allow the procurement for all six sites to take place at the same time.
