To request approval to submit an application to receive grant funding for a climate project from the Climate Action Fund.

That the Corporate Director Resident Services, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment, Infrastructure and Climate Action:

i)             Approves the submission of an application for grant funding from the Climate Action Fund.

Brent is seeking grant funding for a suite of green infrastructure-related initiatives to take place in the Green Neighbourhood localities over the next two years. The initiatives proposed are based on the feedback received from the communities in these two localities throughout the Green Neighbourhoods engagement period.

Funding from the Climate Action Fund would enable Brent to support the communities living in the Green Neighbourhoods localities to have greater contact with nature, increase levels of green infrastructure and improve resilience to climate risks such as flooding and overheating. The project directly aligns with the Council’s commitment to tackle the Climate and Ecological Emergency.

Brent is applying for £850,000 from the Climate Action Fund in support of green initiatives. The funding must be spent within the project timescales of July 2023 – December 2025. There is no requirement for match funding from the local authority. Any grant funding received would be subject to certain conditions.
