To request approval to enter into a grant agreement with Defra for the Air Quality Grant 2022-23.
Decision:
That the Director of Environment & Leisure, following approval from the Section 151 Officer of the proposed grant agreement:
i) Approves the Council entering into a grant agreement with Defra for the Air Quality Grant 2022-23 in the sum of £470,546.
Reasons for the decision:
The Council has been successful in its application to Defra for the Air Quality Grant 2022-23. In order to receive grant funding, the Council is required to enter into a grant agreement and sign the Grant Award Letter.
Alternative options considered:
Officers have considered whether the pollution exposure reduction project working with all schools in the borough can be achieved using the Council’s own resources, but have concluded that without such additional grant funding it would not be possible. Officers are no aware of any other suitable sources of funding that would enable the Council to achieve the project outcomes.
