Petition for Urgent Pavement Repairs on Scarle Road: Ensuring Safety for All Residents

We the undersigned petition the council to Dear Mr. Kennedy and Councillor Sheth, On behalf of the residents of Scarle Road, we are writing to urgently request attention to the deteriorating state of the pavements on our street, which poses a significant safety risk to our community. The pavement on Scarle Road has become increasingly uneven, riddled with cracks, potholes, and broken tiles. These hazards not only mar the appearance of our street but, more critically, endanger the safety of pedestrians. In some cases, pedestrians are forced to step onto the road to avoid these dangers, which introduces further risks to drivers and road users. Our greatest concern is the threat this poses to our elderly and vulnerable residents, many of whom rely on these pavements daily. Navigating an uneven surface increases their risk of falls and potentially serious injuries. We’ve already witnessed several incidents of residents suffering falls due to these issues, and we fear that without intervention, a serious accident is imminen

The residents of Scarle Road are calling on Brent Council to urgently address the poor and hazardous condition of our pavements. Numerous cracks, potholes, and broken tiles make it difficult and dangerous for pedestrians—especially our elderly neighbors and those with mobility challenges—to navigate safely. Several residents have already suffered injuries due to these defects, highlighting the immediate need for action. While Brent Council has indicated that only roads with over 80% "poor" pavement qualify for repair, we believe this standard overlooks serious safety risks affecting our community. We urge the council to prioritize Scarle Road in its pavement maintenance program to prevent further accidents and ensure a safer environment for all.
