Renew Rainbow Park playground, Rusper Close NW2
Rainbow Park is around 2,437 m² of council-owned public land serving hundreds of nearby homes, but it has fallen into disrepair. The play equipment is old and worn, and the safety surfacing is past its useful life. Roughly 40% of the site is overgrown woodland that children cannot use. There is no lighting, shelter or all-weather path, so the park is unusable in winter and on wet days. The low boundary wall is easily climbed, and the park suffers vandalism, drinking and drug use after dark - leaving broken glass and litter where children play each morning.
We ask the council to: (1) visit the park with residents; (2) add Rainbow Park to the next parks funding round, starting with the safety works above; (3) recognise and work with the Friends of Rainbow Park residents' group; and (4) run a short survey with us so local people shape the final design.
Much of this matches work Brent already funds in parks across the borough - we are asking for Rainbow Park's turn.
