The gates at Tiverton Green are often left open, creating a risk for children, many of whom learn to cycle at the Green. It is also a known risk for dogs, where one has recently been killed after running out of the park into the road.

Following the ban on off-leash dog walking in Paddington Old Cemetery, Brent Council agreed to install self-closing mechanisms on the Tiverton gates. Unfortunately, the north west gate has been repeatedly vandalised. Rather than repairing this, we call on Brent to reconsider and redesign the entrances to the park altogether. This would make the park safer for young children and dogs.

Tiverton Green is a valuable and heavily used space for the community to come together. People exercise there, children learn to cycle, and dogs are able to exercise off-leash. But it has some features which make it less safe and enjoyable for the community than it could be, which has led to recent fatalities. That is why this investment is being requested: to make the most of a valuable community resource.
