Winchester Ave NW6 - Extend CPZ times weekdays and all day Saturday
Winchester Ave is the last street on the eastern part of the KQ
zone in Queens Park. We are close to Queens Park and the Overground
train station, Brondesbury Park.
Winchester Ave is a densely populated street with most of the houses split into 3 or more flats each, along with multi dwelling apartment blocks. Many individuals are car owners of at least one car, putting enormous pressure on the available parking spaces here.
If no parking spaces are available, we are unable to park on Willesden Lane or Dyne Road, our 2 closest streets, as they are in a different CPZ. Our next available street to park in is Brookesville Avenue, which is also heavily congested, so we may need to park at the western end, which is 0.3 of a mile away.
We are also close to the Mosque and Al-Sadiq & Al-Zahara schools situated just across the road on Chevening Road/Brondesbury park.
The Mosque and schools have a number of regular evening and weekend events/activities along with heavily attended religious events. Most attendees drive, taking resident parking spaces during the evenings and weekends.
The Mosque/school attendees could park for free along the side of Queens park during evenings and weekends, leaving available parking spaces on Winchester Ave during evenings and Saturdays for those with KQ parking permissions.
Along with encouraging parking in the many available spaces around all 4 sides of Queens park, non-residents should be encouraged to take public transport to reduce the pollution caused by their vehicles. The area is well served with bus routes, London Overground, Bakerloo & Jubilee lines.
I believe that we also have a number of vehicle owners who park
on Winchester avenue after 6.30pm until 8.30am during weekdays and
weekends for free each day because they park outside the current
CPZ hours without purchasing a permit. These vehicle owners add to
the parking issues experienced by those who have bought KQ parking
permits, usually at great expense.
