Stop community fiber installing telegraph poles
The area already has numerous internet providers with underground services eg openreach (providing a wide choice of providers) and Virgin media fibre to the property. The area is not underserved as might be the case in rural areas. Community Fibre should not be permitted to use a cheap last century technology not suited to a dense urban neighbourhoods by constructing dangerous, unsightly and obtrusive poles. The equipment is redundant and sets a dangerous precedent for future companies to come in and add additional telecoms equipment including poles on our street.
Recent investment by Brent council and tfl on Chamberlayne road have prioritized the removal of street clutter. These unnecessary poles will only add to the street clutter we are trying to avoid.
Overhead cables are vulnerable to storm damage. It is also likely that to reach some premises the cables may have to pass through street tree branches. That could lead to damage to the cables as the trees grow further, or accidental damage during pollarding
The propose poles will be placed at the kerb edge and are therefore likely to obstruct car door opening when placed next to parking bays, which some of the proposed poles will be
The poles will block sightlines and make entering or exiting resident's driveways hazardous
Poles located on our road's pavements which are quite narrow would impede prams and wheelchairs and our bins collection
