Application by G2 Haircutters to review the betting premises licence for 'William Hill' (2 Glengall Road, London, NW6 7EP) pursuant to the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005
Decision:
Having considered the application by G2 Haircutters to review the betting premises licence for ‘William Hill’ (2 Glengall Road, London, NW6 7EP) (“the premises”) pursuant to the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005, the Sub-Committee resolved that the betting premises licence continue in full force and effect but with conditions agreed with the police as more particularly detailed in tab nine of the additional documents submitted by William Hill, with the exception of condition numbered 3 (i).
The Alcohol and Entertainment Licensing Sub-Committee (C) felt that there was insufficient evidence submitted in the review and supporting representations to suggest that the betting premises licence holder was undermining the Licensing objectives in accordance with section 1 of the Gambling Act 2005 (preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime; ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way; protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling). Furthermore, it felt that the betting premises licence holder’s acceptance of the conditions as agreed with the police would strengthen their ability to uphold the Licensing objectives.. Accordingly, it was agreed that the betting premises licence remain in force with the conditions agreed by the police, with the exception of the plans referred to in condition 3 (i) as it was noted that the same was proposed in an application for a new betting premises licence by the betting premises licence holder that would duly be considered by the Sub-Committee.
