To elect the Mayor of the Borough for the Municipal Year 2021/2022
For the Council to elect a Mayor for the 2021/2022 Municipal Year, in accordance with Standing Order 27(a).

Councillor Lia Colacicco was appointed to serve as Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2021/22 Municipal Year.
Minutes:
Prior to handing over to the Chief Executive for the conduct of the election process, Councillor Ezeajughi (as outgoing Mayor) began by asking members for nominations to the office of Mayor of the London of Borough of Brent for the 2021/2022 Municipal Year.
Councillor M Butt (Leader of the Council) proceeded to nominate Councillor Lia Colacicco. In moving the nomination, he thanked Councillor Ezeajughi and his family for their hard work and dedication during his extended period as Mayor, recognising what had been a challenging two years not only in terms of his civic role but also for the borough as a whole in responding to the pandemic. In nominating Councillor Colacicco, he felt confident she would be able to continue in the same manner providing the necessary civic leadership for the borough as it sought to recover from the pandemic.
Councillor McLennan (Deputy Leader of the Council) seconded Councillor M Butt’s nomination of Councillor Colacicco for the office of Mayor of the London of Borough of Brent for the 2021/2022 Municipal Year.
There were no other nominations and it was therefore RESOLVED that Councillor Lia Colacicco be elected Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2021/2022 Municipal Year.
Councillor Colacicco proceeded to sign the statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor.

To elect the Mayor of the Borough for the Municipal Year 2020/2021
For the Council to elect a Mayor for the 2020/2021 Municipal Year, in accordance with Standing Order 27(a).

Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi appointed to continue as Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2020/21 Municipal Year.
Minutes:
Prior to handing over to the Chief Executive for the conduct of the election process, Councillor Ezeajughi began by asking Members for nominations to the Office of Mayor of the London of Borough of Brent for the Municipal Year 2020/2021.
Councillor Muhammed Butt (Leader of the Council) proceeded to nominate Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi. In moving the nomination, he highlighted the challenging nature of the year to date given the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the effect this had had on the civic year and activities of the Mayor. In view of the impact on his time in office, the Leader felt it was therefore only fair to nominate Councillor Ezeajughi to continue as Mayor through to the end of the 2020/21 Municipal Year.
Councillor McLennan (Deputy Leader of the Council) seconded Councillor Muhammed Butt’s nomination for Councillor Ezeajughi to continue as Mayor through to May 2021 recognising his dedication and efforts as Mayor to date.
There were no other nominations and it was therefore RESOLVED that Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi be re-elected Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2020/2021 municipal year.
Councillor Ezeajughi proceeded to sign the statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor.

To elect the Mayor of the Borough for the Municipal Year 2019/2020
For the Council to elect a Mayor for the 2019/2020 Municipal Year, in accordance with Standing Order 27(a).

Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi appointed as Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2019/20 Municipal Year.
Minutes:
Councillor Mahmood asked Members for nominations to the Office of Mayor of the London of Borough of Brent for the Municipal Year 2019/2020.
Councillor M Butt (Leader of the Council) proceeded to nominate Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi. In moving the nomination, he highlighted how pleased he was to be able to nominate Councillor Ezeajughi who he was sure would continue to be a hardworking and excellent ambassador for Brent.
Councillor McLennan (Deputy Leader of the Council) seconded Councillor M Butt’s nomination for Councillor Ezeajughi to be appointed as new Mayor of Brent taking the opportunity to recognise his dedication and efforts as Deputy Mayor.
There were no other nominations and it was therefore RESOLVED that Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi be elected Mayor of the London Borough of Brent for the 2019/2020 municipal year.
Councillor Ezeajughi proceeded to sign the statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor and took over the chairmanship of the meeting from Councillor Mahmood.
