Decision details

Authority for emergency allocation of funding for the COVID Local Support Grant extension (Recordable Officer Decision)

Decision Maker: Strategic Director - Customer and Digital Services

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To seek approval for the allocation of funding from the Covid Local Support Grant in accordance with the approach set out.

Decision:

That the Strategic Director for Customer and Digital Services:

i)             Approves the allocation of funding from the Covid Local Support Grant in accordance with the approach set out.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council requires a mechanism through which to distribute its allocation from the Covid Local Support Grant extension, a follow on support scheme from the Covid Winter Support Grant (1 December 2020 to 16 April 2021) and the Covid Local Support Grant (16 April 2021 to 20 June 2021). The same eligibility criteria and reporting requirements are applicable. Approval is sought to continue allocation of funding using the same approach for the distribution of funds that was agreed for the previous two grant schemes.

Alternative options considered:

Alternative options for the approach for allocating funds have not been considered as mechanisms are already in place from the previous Covid Local Support Grant Scheme, which has the same eligibility and reporting requirements as the Covid Local Support Scheme Extension.

Wards Affected: (All Wards);

Cabinet/Committee Decision or Scheme of Delegation: Delegated authority

Parties Consulted: It is not considered in the circumstances that non-statutory public consultation is a viable or reasonable option for the Council in taking this decision, even if at other times it would have considered consultation with the public and / or stakeholders affected by the decision.
