Urgent item - Market supplement for Children and Families social workers PDF 81 KB The purpose of this report is to apprise the Committee of the issues in relation to the payment of a market supplement to social workers within the Children and Young People’s Department. Minutes: Councillor Moher, Vice-Chair, explained that the reason for this being item taken as an urgent item was that, working alongside the Council’s recruitment partners, TMP, the Council was about to launch a high profile national recruitment campaign for children’s social workers. She explained that it was important that within this campaign the Council was absolutely clear about the remuneration package and clarity about the market supplement is key to that.
RESOLVED:
that the continued payment of a market supplement to children’s social workers be approved, but the department be allowed discretion about whether this should be paid differentially, focused on the harder to recruit service areas.
